As a guest researcher at Zackenberg Research Station, your stay is covered under the Zackenberg expedition permit issued for activities within the Northeast Greenland National Park. You do not need to apply separately for this general access permit.
Additional Permits may be required. If your research involves activities not covered by the National Park regulations—such as:
Handling or studying mammals or birds
Collecting or analyzing minerals (such as soil, sediments)
Working with genetic resources (e.g. DNA sampling)
- you are personally responsible for obtaining the appropriate permits from the Government of Greenland before your fieldwork begins.

Mineral-related research:
If your project involves geological sampling or analysis of mineral resources, you may also require permission from the Greenland Ministry of Mineral Resources and Justice:Scientific permit | Mineral Resources Authority - Naalakkersuisut
Genetic resources:
Anyone collecting, storing, transferring, or conducting research on genetic resources in Greenland must apply for a permit: Genetic resources / biological material
Applications should be submitted early, as permit processing can take time. A copy of the permit must be submitted to Zackenberg secretariat before the field work.
