Daneborg Research Station is located about 25 km southeast of Zackenberg, in the outer part of Young Sound. This marine branch facility includes basic laboratory infrastructure and can accommodate up to ten people.
Daneborg also serves as the headquarters for the Sirius Patrol—the dog sled unit of the Northeast Greenland National Park. The station lies in the southern part of the park, which is the largest national park in the world, covering approximately 1 million km². The nearest town, Ittoqqortoormiit, is 450 km to the south.
Daneborg is primarily used for marine research, including the MarinBasis monitoring programme, which is part of the Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring (GEM) programme. Since 2003, MarinBasis has operated from Daneborg alongside other scientific studies focused on sea ice, atmosphere, and hydrography.
Daneborg station is open upon requests, and is mainly used during the month of August.
